Good Things Come to Those That Help Dogs.
Welcome to Hit House's "Kickboxing for a Cause: Puppies & Fitness" event, made possible by the generous team at Social Tees Animal Rescue. This donation-based class, held on Tuesday, February 3rd, marked Hit House's eleventh time working with Social Tees Animal Rescue. This special event's goal was to raise money for the animal rescue's veterinary fund, and raise awareness (as always) for the volunteer and foster program. This time, our supportive kickboxing community filled up the entire class (sold out, baby!) to raise more money then ever. THANK YOU!
Who is Social Tees Animal Rescue? Social Tees Animal Rescue is a non-profit (501c3) no-kill rescue in NYC finding forever homes for abandoned dogs and cats. All animals that Social Tees rescue are in foster homes. STAR believes that when done responsibly, a foster based system is the healthiest option: The animals receive one-on-one care and training, and prospective adopters get a much clearer picture of what kind of lifestyle that animal is likely to require long term. Animal behavior and needs can change dramatically between a kennel and a home setting.
STAR provides all animals they rescue with veterinary care. They ensure that each animal is neutered; up to date on core vaccines at the time of adoption; microchipped; treated with de-fleaing, de-worming, and de-miting medication as necessary and more. This event raised $700 to help supply animals with vet care - thank you all!

What's the event like? Guests purchased a ticket that included Hit House's signature all-levels kickboxing class, pushed themselves in Hit House instructor Ngawang Bongpa's 45 minute Muay Thai inspired class (he definitely wore a t-shirt that read 'Good Boys Get Treats' from Puppies Make Me Happy while teaching) and then were greeted by adoptable dogs post-workout! Guests spent time with dogs that are currently being fostered by STAR, as well as chat with the foster parents and volunteers and learn more about how STAR works! We were also treated to post-workout drinks from Bloom, zero-sugar sparkling energy drinks.
We met the adoptable Social Tees dogs, Nicole and Jessie (now adopted!):

STAR is celebrating 25 years - and you can celebrate with them! They are throwing a pretty epic, dog friendly birthday party at the East Village Moxy on February 27th. More information and tickets available here.

Thank you to Bloom Nutrition for keeping us hydrated and energized. A huge thank you to Puppies Make Me Happy for early access to their newest Puppies & Fitness Merch items: Good Boys Get Treats and Who's a Good Boy?. Puppies Make Me Happy is a Los Angeles based brand that supports local rescues - meaning your purchase helps animals in need!
